Your setup guide

Everything you bought, start to finish. Take it one step at a time. Nothing here needs a programmer.

You have the full assistant setup, the help that comes with it, and the updates as it improves. This page walks you from nothing to a working assistant that already knows your family.

Read the whole page once before you start. It takes about fifteen minutes from here.

Before you begin

You need two things

Then spend two minutes on these three answers. The setup asks for them, and it is easier to have them ready than to invent them live.

If you do not have answers yet, that is fine. The setup will help you pick as you go.

1.Install Claude Code

This is the program the assistant runs inside. Pick your computer.

Mac

Open Terminal. Press Command and the space bar, type Terminal, then press return. Paste this line and press return again.

curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash

Windows

Open PowerShell from the Start menu. Paste this and press enter.

curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.cmd -o install.cmd && install.cmd && del install.cmd

It takes a few minutes and prints a lot of text while it works. That is normal. When it stops and gives you your prompt back, you are done with this step. If you already had Claude Code installed, skip straight to step 2.

2.Set up your assistant

Stay in the same window. Paste the block for your computer and press return. This single line downloads the setup and starts it.

Mac

mkdir -p ~/my-agent && cd ~/my-agent && git clone https://github.com/jaredrhod/fullstack-agent && cd fullstack-agent && claude "set me up"

Windows

$d="$env:USERPROFILE\.local\bin"; if (Test-Path "$d\claude.exe") { $env:Path="$d;$env:Path" }; New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force -Path $HOME\my-agent | Out-Null; cd $HOME\my-agent; if (-not (Test-Path fullstack-agent\fullstack-agent.md)) { Invoke-WebRequest https://github.com/jaredrhod/fullstack-agent/archive/refs/heads/main.zip -OutFile fsa.zip; Expand-Archive fsa.zip . -Force; New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force -Path fullstack-agent | Out-Null; Get-ChildItem fullstack-agent-main -Force | Copy-Item -Destination fullstack-agent -Recurse -Force; Remove-Item fullstack-agent-main -Recurse -Force; Remove-Item fsa.zip }; cd fullstack-agent; if (Get-Command claude -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue) { claude "set me up" } else { Write-Output "Install Claude Code first from step 1, then paste this again." }

If Windows says Claude is not found, the install from step 1 did not finish. Redo step 1, then paste this block again.

3.Answer the questions

The setup talks you through the rest itself. It asks a short series of questions in the same window.

The mechanical ones you can answer as you go. Push to talk or hands free, which voice, whether you want a face. Push to talk is the usual pick and it is easier in a house with kids around.

The personal ones are the three you wrote down earlier. Your name, your assistant's name, how you want it to talk to you, and anything it should never bring up. Read them straight off your notes.

One thing worth doing here. When it asks about your household, give it the real details. Your children's names and ages, what grade each one is working at, the curriculum you use, and your state. It remembers all of it, and every answer after this gets better because of it.

4.Say hello

When it finishes, it greets you by name. That is your assistant, running on your machine, ready.

Ask it something real before you close the window. Not a test question, a real one.

If it answers well, you are done. If it does not know something, tell it, and it will hold onto the answer.

Using it day to day

Just talk to it, the way you would talk to a capable assistant who has been in the house a while.

Keeping it healthy

If something goes wrong
